Social Activism

Although many Arlington women did not work outside their homes between 1900 and 1975, they made an effort to see beyond them. Many wanted to improve their neighborhoods, their County, and the world in general. They did so through civil and social activism. By joining with other concerned citizens, Arlington women could work for better roads and other county facilities, help the disadvantaged, protect parks and open spaces, and hold elected officials accountable.
